OrcQuest Warpath: Elf Archer

My first entry for Dave Stone's "Paint What You Got" challenge 2024 is an Elf Archer from OrcQuest Warpath. Like last month's Heckarr & Jeckarr, this miniature was sculpted by Gael Goumon.

The miniature was quite fun to paint, however it had some nasty mold lines that were difficult to remove without damaging the head. The model is going to get used in our D&D games as well to represent another member of our party, the Wood Elf Ranger Setarcos. Here's a group shot of the currently painted party members - two more to go.

  1. Cute paint job. Judging from the photos, the quality of the sculpture is not the best: it seems a bit flat in the details, so as not to facilitate the painting of the individual elements. However we like the final result, in the classic colours of a wood elf ranger. The particular shape of the arch would almost make you think that it was built by joining deer antlers (?).
Finally a party character who isn't a tank...but at the very least he will be a killing machine like Legolas from Jackson's films, not to be outdone by his companions!

    1. Thank you! Yes, the quality of the miniature is not great, but I guess that has to be expected from boardgame plastics. True, the bow could very well be made of antlers!
Yes, he's very efficient with his bow, even if he's not as imposing as his colleagues.

  2. Excellent job on the ranger snapfit, especially with what you had to work with, you've got a lot of character into the model with your painting.

    1. Thanks, Dave! Working with boardgame plastics makes me appreciate GWs models even more, haha

  3. The painting makes me think about the Darkest Dungeon characters. It's probably because of the strong shades. Anyway, it looks pretty good :)

    1. Thanks! Love the art style of that game. Now that you say it, I can see some resemblance - the way the face is shaded looks pretty similar. I guess it wasn't the worst decision to not paint the eyes, haha
