Gobbla the Squig

Recently I painted one of my favourite models of all time and maybe the most iconic squig ever made - the original Gobbla by Kev Adams from 1993. I originally got it from Mail Order ~20 years ago and a few years ago I started to paint it, but never got beyond the basecoats. Now I found the motivation to finish it, and I must say it was a joy to paint!

I went with the classic red colour scheme and painted the tongue in bright green to give it some contrast. I experimented with thinned down Blood Angels Red Contrast paint as a glaze, to bring together the basecoat (Mephiston Red) and highlight (Wild Rider Red) and I'm quite happy with the result.

I painted a few more minis in the last few months, but didn't get around to posting them - they'll show up on this blog in the coming weeks. Next up will be some creatures that are at least as hungry as old Gobbla is..
